Some Contacts Are...AWEKWARD!!!

Sister Behrman and me with Jessica.  Jessica is amazing and is scheduled to be baptized on August 22, 2009.

Why Hello Everybody!
This week has been so crazy and such a blast at the same time! we have foundsome wonderful people and have seen how the Lord truly prepares His peopleto hear His word and accept it. We found this young couple who is living together in the backyard of a members home ( she is renting out the extra house to them) and they are getting married in september. so we have been teaching them and they have committed to be baptized august 22nd. We have only had the chance to teach them 2 lessons and they came to the ward party saturday and it was amazing because jessica told me that she is moving out. The member (the frias) told jessica that she needs to live the law of chastity before she gets married and she agrees that she wants her baptism to cleanse her from all of her past sins. it was amazing! we didnt' even have to teach her the law of chastity yet and she was already willing to live it and make the preparations to live it! jessica is so ready and excited to get baptized, but eric will take some more teaching and time, he is not as ready as she is but we will work so hard with them, they certainlyare a neat couple.

well texas is crazy.. saturday we had a pioneer celebration for the stake and there were more than 500 people there. it was crazy and so crowded in the gym but it was such an awesome place to bring investigators to and get them excited about coming to church and building relationships with the members. texas stake parties are so different than any other kind i have ever been to. they had a petting zoo and horse rides and all sorts of craziness.... yikes! and i have never seen so much chili and cornbread...dad you would have been in heaven.. i dont like chili but this was pretty darn good!

This upcoming week will be so awesome! they are having mini missionaries..which means that all week long i will be on splits with a young girl anywhere from 16-18 who will be my companion. it will be exciting because i will be off in an area with her and i will have to take charge. and on top of that my companion is the one who will have the car so i will be biking! out of control! but it will be good. it is going to be such a learning experience because i will pretty much have to teach the lessons all by myself and my companion doesn't speak Spanish! so i will let you know how this upcoming week goes!

there are so many interesting things that happen on missions. that is why they are so fun. each day my companion and i look at each other and we are just like.. wow... did that really just happen....? is this real life? i love the awkwardness of some people!

An interesting experience happened this week but i am not sure if i can explain how awkward and hilarious it was. i was in church and this woman in a wifebeater shirt came up to me and gave me her address and asked if we would come visit her... so i said of course! well we went to her house and it was in a really really nice neighborhood on the very rich part of town. we went to her front door but everyone here has gates or fences before you reach the front door. so there was this giant brick wall that wrapped around her house before you enter the front yard and the gate door was giant and you couldn't see through it. so we tried to open it but it was really heavy and i thought it was locked. sister behrmann was really determined and so she shoved it open and right when she did, their dog bolted out of the yard and started running down the neighborhood... it reminded me of the winn's house when jackson would go running through the neighborhood park! so there i go chasing after this little dog and finally we corner it and get it back into the yard... we were laughing because it was so weird and hilarious...so we got in the front yard and there was this nice lounge area and pool and it just felt like such a little secluded tropical paradise.. especially because of what kind of houses we are used to. We knocked on the front door but the woman wasn't home.. and as i was writing her a note my companion was playing with the dog and it was all secluded and we were just being a bit silly. so as we were trying to figure out how to leave without the dog running out again, my companion started to open the gate door and so i tried to grab the dog and hold it back... but it jerked forward and all i could hold on to were its back legs.... and i was just laughing because it was so awkward. Then...i looked up (as i am still holding this dog by its back legs as it is trying to run away) and there is a man who is coming in the gate and just giving us the most awkward and disturbed look, trying to figure out who we are and what we are doing to his dog. So he comes in the gate and we introduce ourselves telling him we were looking for sister cano and we had an appointment... and he was like.. "who?" .... "uh... sister cano?" "she doesn't live here" WE WERE AT THE WRONG HOUSE!!!!!!! we then sheepishly gave him a Finding Faith in Christ pass along card! it was the most awkward contact we have ever had!

well i am not sure if that is as funny on paper as it was in real life. but i just wanted you to know of some of the most random things that have happened to me out here. i have now learned that cats and dogs (with the exception of sadie) are the most vile and disgusting creatures on earth...ewww... i have run ins with them everyday and one scary one looked like a hieena <- i totally spelt that wrong ... but the bad guys on the lion king that worked for scar :) anywho it started attacking us so i tried to shine the little flashlight in its eyes, the one that jon gave me, but that only made it hesitate for a second so i had to kick it in the face... i came too far to get rabbiees!

well this is the end of the awkward epistle of krystal...

i love you all and i am so grateful for each of you! cory you are having another girl that is way exciting!!!!!!!! Have a wonderful week and i am excited to read everyone's emails!
