Needin' some Protection in San Benito

Hello Everyone,

Wow...what an interesting week! We had some great teachings and a few strange experiences also. I’ll share one of the strange ones with you.

so about 3 transfers ago this man walked up to me and contacted me... i thought that was cool. but somehow i lost his info and never was able to get a hold of him. well this transfer he contacted me again and asked me why i had never come over to his house to teach him. so we set up an appointment with him and went over and taught him the first lesson. well he ends up coming to church and stuff like that. and we teach him a little bit more. whenever one of us is on the phone with him he always asks who it is he is talking to. well this week he wasn't there for our appt so i called him and we talked for a little bit and set up a time to go over on friday. so friday rolls around, we are at the cuevas house and we just had a lesson and ohhh my goodness there was a torrential downpour. the streets flooded and it was pouring. we had an appt with German (that is his name... he is mexican.. and his name is German... haha) anywho so he calls us and is like "where are you i am waiting for you" so i told him we are on our way and we will be right there and then he said he was on his way too and wanted to meet at Jack In The Box before we went to his house... i told him we would just meet at his house. he then wanted to meet up on some random street and then we could follow him to his house... well it just sounded weird so i told him we would call him when we got close to his house. so we get in the car and it is raining so hard and i just felt like we shouldn't teach him cuz we would have to stand out in the rain and try to teach and it would be too much of a distraction and we wouldn't be able to feel the spirit. so i call him up and let him know that it is raining too hard that we can't come over. he then says.. "that is probablyy a good thing. i am in love with you and every time i see you i fall more and more in love with you."
Me: "uhhhhhhh i am a missionary" (this conversation will show how awkward i have become)
German "can i take you out to dinner sometime, just you and me?"
Me: "no. i am a missionary. we don't date."
German "well i really want to take you out and to see you"
Me: "I am sorry but I don't have feelings for you like that and i am down here to teach the gospel. So if you want to learn more about the gospel then you can come to church again."
German "when are you going to come over again and teach me?"
Me: "I can't anymore.. but the elders can. I will have them call you. Have a good day bye."

hahahaha after i got off the phone sis haws was like... Waaaahhhhht just happened? haha. That is San Benito for you. the elders get love notes from little teenage girls and the sisters get creepster old men following them around and what not. That is just how it goes and it didn't really phase me too bad because we have had a few creepsters before but nothing to get ET'ed over. LOVE MY MISSION. but the best part of all was that i just didn't really know what to say to German! luckily though he hasn't called us again so i hope i won't run into him anymore.. he didn't come to church either.

Just another experience in the life of a missionary.

I LOVE YOU ALL have a great week!

Love Hermana O.
